In 1969, Hollywood did its part with a script by William Goldman and brought the criminal duo to the screen with the glamour of those times, played by Paul Newman and Robert Redford, one of the most iconic pairs in film history. With influences from the French New Wave cinema, elements of comedy from the "buddy movies" and romantic touches, 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' was a breath of fresh air for the westerns of its time.
