Nina, an OB-GYN, faces accusations after a newborn's death. Her life undergoes scrutiny during the investigation. She persists in her medical duties, determined to provide care others hesitate to offer, despite risks.

"April is a film by Georgian filmmaker Dea Kulumbegashvili (Beginning), which won the Special Jury Prize at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. The story follows an obstetrician-gynecologist in a rural area who is investigated for the death of a baby during childbirth, which was not her fault. Despite the risks of being exposed through the investigation, she secretly provides abortions, as they are prohibited in the country. With a contemplative pace and shots full of tension, the film addresses the enormous moral weight of vocation and the palpable existential fear of what is beyond our control. A great choice if you enjoy contemplative and reflective cinema or if you follow Kulumbegashvili's work, which we highly recommend."
