"Couture is a drama by French director Alice Winocour (Revoir Paris) that intertwines the stories of three women during Paris Fashion Week: a photographer who has just discovered she has breast cancer (a spectacular Angelina Jolie), a young model fleeing her fate in Sudan (Anyier Anei), and a makeup artist working in the shadows of the runways (Ella Rumpf, from Marguerite’s Theorem). In this interconnected narrative, filled with subtleties, the director reveals the spirits of resilience of her protagonists in different trenches and the invisible hierarchies of the fashion world. Angelina Jolie, in particular, delivers one of the best performances of her career, and even if the film takes an unusual turn in direction and tone, it remains a compassionate portrait of individual struggles to avoid falling apart and move forward."
