The Richest Woman in the World

"The Richest Woman in the World is a French drama starring Isabelle Huppert that, despite changes to character names and certain situations, is based on the 2010 controversy surrounding Francoise Bettencourt (heiress of L'Oreal). The story follows a wealthy businesswoman, Marianne Farrère (Huppert), who forms a chance friendship with a photographer (Laurent Lafitte). The friendship turns into patronage, then into interest, manipulation, and embezzlement, in a case that captured media attention and destroyed one of France’s wealthiest families from within. The drama is somewhat conventional, but the ensemble performances and the intrigue are more than enough to keep the audience engaged throughout, especially if you’re interested in celebrity stories."
