""The Personal History of David Copperfield" is one of the most well-known stories in American literary popular imagination, largely due to Charles Dickens' sharp prose. Now, the story gets a new adaptation by the hands of filmmaker Armando Iannucci, from the excellent "The Death of Stalin" and "In the Loop". Here, the director still uses his characteristic style - tangled plots, in the best Coen Brothers style - to modernize Copperfield's journey in an enjoyable and provocative aesthetic. The star-studded cast featuring Dev Patel, Peter Capaldi, Hugh Laurie, Tilda Swinton and Ben Whishaw helps to raise the quality of the production, which is not afraid to bring new looks and interpretations to Dickens' definitive work."
