Why watch the movie The Conquest of Siberia?
"Interesting Russian historical movie, 'Tobol' follows the interesting journey of a young officer from Peter I's First Guard, Ivan Demarin. He, under the czar's instructions, is sent to the depths of Siberia - to the border with Tobolsk. There, Ivan finds his first love and, along with his regiment, is dragged into a conspiracy by local princes, who seek the gold of Yarkand. An interesting war movie, which mixes drama, history and romance in equal measures, and which shows how Russia also knows how to make good movies about its history and the mythology around the country."
