Goddess of the Fireflies

"Movies about coming of age remain very popular, especially in the independent scene. 'La déesse des mouches à feu' rides this wave by telling the story of a teenager living in the Canadian countryside during the rise of grunge music. Director Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette brings a well-directed film that works well with the cast and builds a good protagonist, who literally grows in front of the screen. The plot manages to transport us to this stage of life where everything takes on an absurd weight and often, we just want to escape since the feeling of not belonging is one of the great questions of our existence when we are in adolescence."
