A prequel, set before the events of Army of the Dead, which focuses on German safecracker Ludwig Dieter leading a group of aspiring thieves on a top secret heist during the early stages of the zombie apocalypse.
"Six years before the events seen in 'Army of Thieves', this feature film is focused on Ludwig Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer), the great master of safes that impresses Dave Bautista's troupe in the other movie. The story is based on Zack Snyder's idea, with a script by Shay Hatten ('Army of the Dead') and direction by Schweighöfer himself. Very different from the character we already know, we are presented to Dieter's most intimate side, a lonely boy with many insecurity issues. Nathalie Emmanuel ('Fast & Furious 8') makes a great duo with Matthias Schweighöfer: she is practically a Catwoman in the plot, since she gives life to an international jewel thief. 'Army of Thieves: Invasion of Europe' is a fun heist movie - without zombies - and it manages to convince you that Ludwig deserved a solo story."
