Sue Parker (Willa Holland) finds herself in a desperate battle to save her family’s struggling business, which is on the brink of collapse due to her father’s neglect. When a handsome drifter (Shane West) comes into town she sees him as the only chance to prevent their bar from falling into the hands of a ruthless local tycoon (Dermot Mulroney). What starts as a simple plan to save her family, quickly spirals into larceny, lawlessness and deadly consequences.

"The directorial debut of Matthew Yerby, The Dirty South is a captivating crime thriller featuring Willa Holland (renowned for the series Arrow) and set deep in the American South, akin to films like Hell or High Water or No Country for Old Men. The story follows a young woman (Holland) forced to fight when, due to her father's negligence, the family bar is at risk of falling into the hands of a local magnate (Dermot Mulroney). As a desperate measure, she turns to the help of a charismatic yet mysterious criminal (Shane West), who might be the only solution to obtain the needed money. The performances are solid, and despite the limited production budget, the director successfully creates the typically hostile atmosphere associated with the American South: gritty, marginalized, and teeming with criminals."
