Why watch this film?
Roy Freeman, an ex-homicide detective with a fractured memory, is forced to revisit a case he can’t remember. As a man’s life hangs in the balance on death row, Freeman must piece together the brutal evidence from a decade-old murder investigation, uncovering a sinister web of buried secrets and betrayals linking to his past. With only instincts to trust, he faces a chilling truth - sometimes, it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie.
"Sleeping Dog almost transports you to the early 2000s. Starring Russell Crowe (Gladiator), the film is one of those traditional thrillers that used to air late at night on broadcast TV and kept the audience hooked until the end. Here, Crowe plays an investigator with Alzheimer's who is confronted with a past investigation and, despite all his memory problems, needs to understand what happened back then. Full of twists, the movie plays with the viewer's expectations. It may be mundane (and feature a terrible performance by Karen Gillan from Guardians of the Galaxy), but it's a film that entertains, passes the time, and brings back the atmosphere of those suspense films from decades ago."
