Why watch this film?
An aging gangster attempts to reconnect with his children and rectify the mistakes in his past, but the criminal underworld won't loosen their grip willingly.
"Absolution is a film that reflects the essence of Liam Neeson's films post-2020, when he decided he wanted to take a break from shooting, beating and bomb stories -- but not for that long. After all, the Irish actor ended up following a path of still making action films, but with more contained scenes, such as In the Land of Saints and Sinners and Marlowe. In Absolution, more specifically, he plays an elderly gangster, with a serious memory problem, who tries to get closer to his children and correct the mistakes of his past, while the criminal underworld is not willing to give up its influence. It's a more restrained film, often even with pacing problems, but it manages to bring the necessary tone of tension to the story, especially with a very vulnerable protagonist. Far from being Liam Neeson's best film, always remembered for Taken and the like, but you can still miss his good stories by throwing punches around."
