Why watch this film?
Filmed on the fabled Greek island of Hydra, Paweł Pawlikowski’s playful, virtuosic short is a modern myth that dazzles in dynamic black and white. Adding flashes of high fashion to shades of early cinema, model and actor Małgosia Bela strikes the poses of a fearless muse with chameleonic style.
"Muse is a short film by Polish filmmaker Paweł Pawlikowski, best known for directing Cold War. It tells a brief story about the power struggle between a pianist and his untamable muse, played by Małgorzata Bela (who, coincidentally, is the director’s wife). With a visual style that combines the look of silent black-and-white cinema with contemporary fashion, it is a short and captivating tale. It is also Pawlikowski’s first audiovisual work since 2018's acclaimed Cold War."
