'Peppermint' is an action thriller which tells the story of young mother Riley North who awakens from a coma after her husband and daughter are killed in a brutal attack on the family. When the system frustratingly shields the murderers from justice, Riley sets out to transform herself from citizen to urban guerilla. Channeling her frustration into personal motivation, she spends years in hiding honing her mind, body and spirit to become an unstoppable force – eluding the underworld, the LAPD and the FBI- as she methodically delivers her personal brand of justice.
"A female version of the Marvel character The Punisher - which becomes even clearer with the Brazilian title. A woman has her family murdered by the mafia and, seeing that justice failed the victims, she sets out in search of revenge. The difference here is that the protagonist, played by Jennifer Garner ('Elektra'), is an ordinary woman who, after the tragedy, trains to become a lethal machine (which, by the way, brings similarities to another hero: Batman). Direction is by Pierre Morel (of 'Taken'), which guarantees good action sequences. Unfortunately, the feature film lacks a more elaborated script, going beyond the already cited inspirations."
