Lily has never been a socialite, with the exception, of Rose, her big sister. She is closest to, and depends on Rose more than anyone; so, when Rose suddenly dies, Lily's future is forced to alter completely. As the film progresses, it switches back and forth between the past and present - from the days of when Rose went missing, to the emotional present of Lily's grief, anger and journey to acceptance.
