The story of teenager Richard Wershe Jr., who became an undercover informant for the FBI during the 1980s and was ultimately arrested for drug-trafficking and sentenced to life in prison.

""White Boy Rick" is a movie based on a true story and set in Detroit during the 1980s. With solid performances from Matthew McConaughey ("Dallas Buyers Club") and Bel Powley ("The Diary of a Teenage Girl"), the feature film fails to deliver in its narrative, wasting the socio-political context of the story – which is about a 14-year-old boy becoming a political informant and, involved with the dark side of the city at the start of its economic and social decline, turns into a drug trafficker. Despite the gaps, it's an entertaining adaptation that brings good suspenseful moments."
