Two Russian children, the 14 year old mute, Lisa, and her 5 year old brother, the brother of Lisa prepares an ambush on German occupants during World War II. Like the entire population of occupied Russia at the time, they are filled with a desperate spirit of resistance. They practise shooting and swear to one another that they will kill the enemy. But then, unexpectedly, two German officers arrive at their house ....
