Why watch the movie Casanova, Last Love?
"Giacomo Casanova is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating figures of the 18th century, entering into history as the most famous seducer that ever existed. It is no wonder that the Venetian has already been the subject of several films (how to forget 'Fellini's Casanova' or 'Casanova' with Heath Ledger). Here, the character is played by Vincent Lindon ('The Value of a Man'), slightly based on the time when Casanova fled to England from Paris, when he was older and depressed. Stacy Martin ('The Formidable') plays a woman who manages to do what few could: be the only one in Casanova's heart. For all these reasons, it is not exactly the Giacomo Casanova you are used to, but it is still interesting to see the figure in a different moment of life. The direction is by Benoît Jacquot ('Farewell, My Queen'), who leads an impeccable period reconstruction. 'Dernier amour' (The Last Love of Casanova) is the title."
