Barbara Brozik, a successful visual artist, was commissioned to design an art installation for one of Atlanta's new rapid transit stations. This film records the step-by-step processes she took to create her public art project. Accustomed to fashioning small, intimate pieces for homes and offices, Brozik undertook the daunting assignment of beautifying a MARTA station of over 4,000 square feet with elevated train platforms, escalators, stairways and wide passenger entrance areas. At a porcelain enamel factory, Barbara and a team of assistants silkscreen her photographically-enlarged patterns onto three-foot white panels and "bake" them for permanency. After weeks of fabrication, the panels are shipped and Barbara watches as her 456 panels are installed.
