Why watch the movie City of Angels?
"Nicolas Cage is an angel. Not necessarily in real life, of course. But in 'City of Angels', a romantic feature film and one of the biggest successes of the actor's career. In the plot, he plays the role of a divine creature who falls in love with a weakened doctor (Meg Ryan). Obviously, the relationship begins to go through bumps and bring trials to both characters. Cage and Ryan don't have the same chemistry as Cage and Laura Dern (from 'Wild Heart') or Ryan and Tom Hanks ('You've Got Mail'). Something is missing there. However, the commitment of the two actors in their roles and the delicate direction of Brad Silberling ('Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events') help to give layers to the film and make it memorable -- mainly due to the controversial ending."
