Law & Order: Svu Star Dann Florek Admits He Was Blindsided By His Donald Cragen Exit

While some TV actors are kept in the loop about the future of their characters, that's not always the case. It appears that Dann Florek was totally blindsided by the fact that his character Donald Cragen would be killed off in the "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" Season 27 premiere. Florek explained that he was "stunned" by the news in an interview with the "Tis Yourself" podcast. "That was kind of a surprise, out of the blue," he said, adding that when he got the call about Cragen's fate he tried to push back against the decision, but the powers

Zoe Saldaña Played A Murder Suspect's Daughter On An Early Law & Order: Svu Episode

Zoe Saldaña's film career began in 2000 with the release of "Center Stage," the cult classic dance movie she starred in alongside Amanda Schull and Peter Gallagher. But as for her TV career start, like other major movie stars, "Law & Order" is where Saldaña first began popping up on the small screen. Saldaña's TV debut was in 1999 on the original "Law & Order." Five years later, her second TV role was on a 2004 episode of the spin-off "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." Saldaña plays Gabrielle Vega on "Svu" Season 5 Episode 21, "Criminal." The New York Knicks Star Jalen Brunson Will Play a Detective on ‘Law & Order: Svu’ and Fans Don’t Have Long to Wait

It has been quite a year for Jalen Brunson. The New York Knicks star helped end a decades-long championship drought, hosted ‘Saturday Night Live,’ and popped up at the Emmys. Now he is adding another credit to the list, with Brunson set to appear on ‘Law & Order: Svu.’ The crossover has been building for months. Brunson said in July that he would love to be on the long-running NBC drama, and Mariska Hargitay, a Knicks superfan, soon hinted that it was in the works. She had called him one of her bucket-list guest stars earlier in the year, along with Jamie Lee Curtis. Now the role has finally come into focus.

‘Law & Order: Svu’ Season 28 Episode 4 Recap & Ending Explained: Halloween Case Ends With a Hidden Attic Intruder and a Painful Curry Reveal

Every long-running procedural eventually spends a night in haunted-house territory, and ‘Law & Order: Svu‘ has now taken its turn. The Halloween-week episode, “Arcana,” is a ghost story on the surface, but its real subject is a character the show has kept at arm’s length. The ending explained: it solves the case and finally fills in a major piece of Captain Renee Curry’s past. The episode lands after a heavy stretch for the squad. The previous hour followed the team through a dark web investigation, and it ended with Benson sending Bruno on leave after the case wore him down. Moving from that to a spooky, supernatural-tinged mystery

‘Difficult People’ Creator Julie Klausner on Reuniting Billy Eichner and the Gang for a Live-Read of the Movie Script That Never Got Made

New York’s Town Hall venue is providing some alternative programming for Election Night — a revival of a cult streaming series. “Difficult People,” the sharp sitcom that aired for three seasons on Hulu, from 2015 to 2017, is reuniting its cast on Nov. 3 for a staged reading of creator Julie Klausner’s script for a follow-up movie, which she co-wrote with Alex Scordelis. The movie, which was commissioned by Universal and never produced, sees Klausner’s protagonist, Julie, and her best friend, Billy (Billy Eichner), once more attempting to make their dreams of stardom come true even after retreating from the world of entertainment. Throughout, they’re forced to reckon with the ways the industry has changed since we last saw them, from the glut of cheap horror films to the continued rise of social-media influencers. Klausner and Eichner will be joined on by “Difficult People” cast members Andrea Martin, James Urbaniak

Bridget Moynahan Reflects On Career, Industry Change At North Fork TV Festival Deadline Dinner

As one of the leads on CBS mainstay Blue Bloods, which ended its 14-season run in 2024, Bridget Moynahan enjoyed a run of rare stability in a rapidly evolving TV industry. The actor reflected on the environment of change and disruption during the latest installment of the Deadline Dinners series, which was held October 21 at the North Fork Television Festival. Along with streaming’s rise to dominance, more recently the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger (forming Skydance) and a big shakeup at Netflix have added to uncertainty about the industry’s future. Don’t count Moynahan among the skeptics, however. “I still feel optimistic about great stories and creativity being able to break through,” Moynahan said. “Despite all of the changes, people will always gravitate toward stories, so I do feel hopeful. You have to have hope.” The conversation, moderated by Deadline New York Business Editor Dade Hayes, touched on various points in Moynahan’s career.
