HBO’s ‘Deadwood’ Officially Finds New Life 22 Years Later

With the kind of resurgence that Westerns have seen in recent years, it's about time that one of the genre's greatest achievements has found an audience on digital as well. It returned with a long-awaited feature film follow-up in 2019, thereby joining other HBO classics such as Sex and the City, Entourage, and The Sopranos that have received movie spin-offs. Will ‘Wildwood’ win Laika its 1st Oscar? A look back at its previous endeavors

In theaters this weekend is Wildwood, the sixth feature-length film from independent stop-motion animated studio Laika. Since launching with Coraline in 2009, Laika has become one of the most successful animation production companies of the 21st century. Each of the studio's previous movies was recognized by the Academy with a Best Animated Feature nomination. Wildwood is hoping to become the first to win a statuette. Adapted from Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis' 2011 fantasy novel of the same name, Wildwood follows a teenage girl and her classmate who embark to a hidden magical forest to save her kidnapped baby brother. Along the way they discover a fantastical world filled with magical creatures and warring factions.

Jason Statham's 105-Minute Remake of '70s Action Thriller Is Officially Being Wiped From Streaming

One of Jason Statham's unsung action thrillers has officially confirmed its exit from streaming. As other Statham hits, like Mutiny and Shelter, currently dominate the charts, this remake of a '70s cult classic rarely gets the love it deserves. As such, it's been somewhat forgotten over the years, but if you're in the mood for high-octane car chases and explosive violence, now is as good a time as any to watch what some viewers call "one of the best Jason Statham movies ever." Jason Statham Drives for His Life in a Timely Action Thriller Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (famous for his many Resident Evil films), Statham took

Sexy Beast ? Second Sight Films

Courtesy of Second Sight Films by James Cameron-wilson Just over two weeks ago we lost the independent British film producer Jeremy Thomas, aged 77, whose credits included the Oscar-winning The Last Emperor, Nagisa Oshima’s Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and Sexy Beast, among over 80 producing credits. This week sees the release of a limited edition dual 4K Uhd and Blu-ray fully-restored version of Sexy Beast from Second Sight Films, complete with a slew of amazing extras. In particular I was struck by the in-depth interview with Jeremy Thomas himself, who speaks directly to camera for what must be about 25 minutes, without hesitation and quite modestly. It must have been one of

The Best Fantasy Horror Movie of the 2000s Officially Hits HBO Max

While the 2000s saw the rise of fantasy blockbusters like The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, it was also a great time for stories that wove more darkness into the genre. The decade marked the rise of Guillermo del Toro as one of the world's most prestigious directors, in part thanks to his Oscar-winning Pan's Labyrinth, which intertwined the real and mythical in horrific and beautiful ways. Sweden's haunting coming-of-age vampire flick Let the Right One In and the Keanu Reeves-led DC-inspired Constantine also possessed the screen, the former being hailed by Roger Ebert as "the best modern vampire movie" at the time and the latter becoming
