‘Nocturne’ sets awards categories: Stephen Graham and Liev Schreiber to submit as leads

Just like in the show they star in, Stephen Graham and Liev Schreiber are going to be going head-to-head in the upcoming awards races. The two actors will both be submitted as leads for their starring roles in Apple TV's new critically acclaimed thriller series Nocturne, Gold Derby has learned exclusively. In the series, which just premiered Oct. 30 with the first two of its 10 episodes, Schreiber plays a former homicide detective who quit over the fallout of the case of a now-imprisoned serial killer played by Graham — but the detective's drawn back in when one of the killer's presumed victims mysteriously resurfaces, minus his sister. Serial killers, sea monsters, political emergencies, and international conspiracies make this a great month for thrillers. After the October Halloween rush, there are so many great thriller (some horror-esque) shows I’m still getting through. From a Stephen King adaptation to a Canadian fishing thriller, to several serial killers (I count three) and at least one diplomatic emergency, this genre keeps going strong. And I don’t expect things to slow down as we enter the end of the year. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Here are my picks for the seven best thriller TV shows you can stream right now. Stephen Graham's Serial Killer Series Is Essential Viewing On Apple TV

Stephen Graham is headlining yet another must-see TV show, and this time he's a vicious serial killer on Apple TV's "Nocturne". More than a year following his Emmy-winning performance on the Netflix series "Adolescence," Graham co-leads "Nocturne" as Jurek Walter, a cunning and manipulative murderer held at a psychiatric hospital when the story begins. Based on the Lars Kepler crime novels "Lazurus" and "The Sandman," Apple TV's "Nocturne" immediately generates an air of suspense as detective Jonah Lynn (Liev Schreiber) finds himself pulled out of retirement when one of Walter's missing victims emerges. While Jonah reopens the investigation, his FBI

Heat 2 | Michael Mann shoots himself in leg as film hits pre-production

A bizarre accident sees Michael Mann rushed to hospital, just a month or two before Heat 2 finally starts filming. A bizarre story just as the long-gestating Heat 2 ramps up for production: it’s writer and director, Michael Mann, appears to have shot himself in the leg. For the avoidance of doubt, this was a deliberate act. Rather, Mann was at a gun range over the weekend, when a holstered firearm accidentally discharged. This left him rushed to ambulance, with a gunshot wound to the leg. The 83-year old is set to start shooting Heat 2 in January, with the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Stephen Graham and Christian Bale

‘Heat’ Director Michael Mann Accidentally Shoots Himself in the Leg at a Los Angeles Gun Range

Michael Mann has spent decades building a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most meticulous crime filmmakers. The director behind ‘Heat’ is known for his obsessive attention to realism, especially when it comes to how his characters handle weapons on screen. At 83, Mann is still hard at work. He is developing a sequel to ‘Heat’ for Warner Bros., based on the novel he co-wrote with Meg Gardiner, and the project has been one of the most closely watched crime films in development. Now the filmmaker has been involved in an unexpected incident. According to TMZ, which first reported the story, Mann accidentally shot himself in the leg on Saturday afternoon at The Range L.

Michael Mann Accidentally Shoots Himself at L.A. Gun Range

Michael Mann was hospitalized on Saturday after accidentally shooting himself at a gun range in Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. “On Saturday, at a gun range, a weapon accidentally discharged while holstered resulting in a superficial injury to film director Michael Mann. He was treated and is being released,” a rep for the four-time Oscar-nominated filmmaker shared in a statement. The Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded to The Range LA at around 4 p.m. for a call about shots fired. “Responding units’ investigation determined the shooting to be accidental. The subject was transported to a local hospital in stable condition,” authorities said. Sources told TMZ that Mann was apparently trying to holster his gun during target practice at a sanctioned gun range when the firearm went off. He was later taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. Mann has been an experienced target shooter for decades.
