Why watch this film?

This is a memorable movie that manages to pique interest in Japanese culture, especially if you've seen it as a child. The amount of beauty and references in this production is breathtaking. 'Yume' is a great introduction to Akira Kurosawa's cinema, one of the most renowned directors in Asia. Despite being one of his last works, it is one of his most poetic and easy to watch films - his famous epics such as 'The Seven Samurai' and 'Rashomon' require more from the viewer. It can also be said that, being a playful production, it is remarkable to see how the photography is beautiful, transporting you to an atmosphere of dreams and each story portrayed in the film has this characteristic. 'Yume' is one of Akira Kurosawa's and cinema's masterpieces.
