Why watch this film?

Benedict Cumberbatch has specialized in fact-based, mystery and/or espionage dramas. After 'Sherlock', 'The Imitation Game' and 'The Spy Who Knew Too Much', the British star appears in 'The Courier' - which, in some way, is a mix of all of these. The story is based on the trajectory of Greville Wynne, a British businessman who helped MI6 infiltrate the Soviet nuclear program in the 1960s. The result is a production in the style of the old spy films, with the unlikely man in the wrong place and at the wrong time. The suspense falls into the common Manichaeisms and clichés of this type of production, as well as being a bit slow, but delivers a plot that involves the viewer - helped by a great performance by Cumberbatch. Great movie to watch (without sleep!) in the dark, in the most immersive way possible.
