Why watch this film?

The atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States were obviously a landmark in the lives of millions. On one side, the victimized Japanese people almost in the blink of an eye, killing innocent people who had nothing to do with the atrocities committed by Japan during World War II. On the other, those behind the bombs. Well, it's impossible to believe that all Americans took their lives calmly after such events. Much less Stanislaw Ulam, a Polish mathematician, naturalized American, who helped in the development of the bombs during the Manhattan Project. In 'Adventures of a Mathematician', we follow Ulam's journey before, during and after the development, showing the traumas and fractures that arise in his life. Although director Thorsten Klein adopts a very bureaucratic tone to tell this story, without great moments or really memorable sequences, it is interesting to see and understand what happened to these people who created the most deadly weapon in the world -- and how, in some way, they were also victims of the system.
