Why watch this film?

It's impossible not to remember the grandeur of 'La Grande Bellezza' when mentioning the name of director Paolo Sorrentino. The Italian's cinema is marked by the influence of Federico Fellini, who always knew how to bring an absurd impact in his works, and Sorrentino manages to approach this effect. If Fellini's 'Amarcord' has an autobiographical tone, 'È stata la mano di Dio' follows the same line. The movie is very intimate, particular and beautiful - even in the saddest moments. All the suffering seems to be more bearable if you live in Naples and can take a dip to cool your head, or get excited with a goal from the Neapolitan hero Diego Maradona - even if it counts with the help of the Hand of God. All with a punctual humor, without exaggeration. If cinema is a distraction from reality, as Fellini already pointed out, may our life be full of abstractions. What Sorrentino does here is art.
