For decades, the rumor has persisted that Adolf Hitler covered up his death during World War II and actually escaped to some South American country. What if such a thing were true? My Neighbor Adolf takes this premise and tells the story of two men: a lonesome, grumpy Holocaust survivor (David Hayman), who is convinced his new German neighbor is none other than Hitler himself (the legendary Udo Kier). This sets off a series of amusing situations, although the film wavers unevenly between thriller and acerbic humor. Nevertheless, Hayman and Kier give excellent, comical performances, making the movie worth a watch.

Plot summary

Despite some ups and downs, this is a fun movie about learning to leave behind a past we may have idealized and embracing both changes and differences. With a cast featuring big names in Mexican acting like Mónica del Carmen, and the participation of Daniela Vega (A Fantastic Woman), it's a journey through 90s nostalgia, with Luis Gerardo Méndez delivering another one of his humorous performances.
