Why watch this film?
This biographical movie is already relevant right off the bat due to the identity of the subject of the biography, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who made history with numerous cases presented in front of the United States Court of Appeals, marking the fight for equal rights in the US - and, then, becoming only the second woman to join the Supreme Court of the country. ‘On the Basis of Sex’ takes a few poetic licenses, but has solid performances from its cast (especially Felicity Jones, from ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’), which includes big names such as Armie Hammer, Kathy Bates and Sam Waterston.

Deep Impact
Interesting fact: 'Deep Impact' was released the same summer as Michael Bay's famous 'Armageddon', which affected its popularity and box office performance. However, if you're looking for a movie about humanity's struggle to survive an impending meteorite impact, focusing more on characters than action, then this is your best choice. 'Deep Impact' focuses on a journalist (Téa Leoni) investigating a strange rumor around the President of the United States (Morgan Freeman), only to uncover the truth: an asteroid is on a collision course with Earth. It may be a bit melodramatic at times, but it captures and conveys the tragedy of such a scenario. The story follows several subplots featuring a great ensemble cast, including in addition to Leoni and Freeman, legendary Robert Duvall, Elijah Wood, and Jon Favreau, among others.

The Peasants
The Peasants is an animated film by the same directors of Loving Vincent, using the same innovative technique, which could be described as "oil-painted rotoscopy". Based on the Nobel Prize-winning novel The Peasants (1904) by Władysław Reymont, it's a tale of desire and revenge told in four episodes, one for each season of the year. The story, set in Poland at the turn of the 20th century, follows a young peasant woman who wreaks havoc by marrying an older, wealthy man, whose son also desires her, despite being married. It is a powerful and bleak, although conventional tale about violence and misogyny, somewhat overshadowed by its beautiful and prodigious visual execution.

But soon, a powerful love draws them together and traps them in the tragedy of war.
