The film explores themes of loyalty, fame, and survival. With its kinetic editing and emotionally charged scenes, Banger isn’t just a musical drama—it’s one of the best action movies on Netflix with a fresh and youthful perspective.
Marking Cameron Diaz’s return to acting after a long hiatus, Back in Action teams her with Jamie Foxx in a high-energy espionage romp. Perfect for fans of 21 Jump Street, this hidden gem deserves a spot on your list of best action movies on Netflix.
Set in a future where humans no longer age and death is nearly obsolete, Ad Vitam is a philosophical sci-fi thriller that combines deep existential questions with classic action beats. When a series of mysterious suicides threatens the seemingly perfect society, a cop and a rebellious young woman investigate. The futuristic setting is sleek and thought-provoking, while the detective story keeps the plot tight and engaging. The bursts of action are impactful and serve the storyline, rather than overwhelming it. It’s rare to find sci-fi that balances philosophy and pulse-pounding scenes so well, making this one of the more unique entries among the best action movies on Netflix.
Directed and written by Rawson Marshall Thurber, of films such as Dodgeball and Skyscraper, Red Notice is a typical heist story that mixes action, adventure and a bit of comedy. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, the production tells the story of Nolan Booth (Reynolds), an art thief stealing a historic Cleopatra gold egg. However, he soon gets caught by an Interpol agent (Dwayne Johnson). All good? Of course not. Soon this agent discovers that he was ambushed - as well as the robber played by Reynolds - by a mysterious villain called Bishop. It is the beginning of a journey for the two to chase after the real eggs and show Interpol that they are not guilty of the artifacts' disappearance. There are no major changes in tone and how to drive the plot of what we are already used to in other productions of the genre, but Red Notice stands out for Reynolds's sharp humor (very similar to what we see in Deadpool, it is worth saying) and the good presence of The Rock and Gal Gadot, who command the best action scenes of the production - besides a good final twist.
