"Premiere of the actor João Côrtes as a director, 'Nas Mãos de Quem me Leva' is a sensitive and delicate movie. A kind of almost rare national drama. In the plot, we follow the story of Amora, a 22-year-old girl, daughter of two artist parents, who becomes an orphan when she is still very young and goes to live with her grandmother. From there, we plunge into this torrent of emotions that is the protagonist's life: the complicated relationship with her grandmother, the frustrations at work, the love life between ups and downs. Côrtes shows some directing vices that deliver his debut behind the cameras and also his young age - on the film's release date, he is only 26 years old. But the depth of the plot, very real and palatable, overcomes these problems and delivers to the audience a movie that moves well between the lightness and naturalness of this story. Absolute highlight for Neusa Maria Faro, the girl's grandmother. She, as always, shows an incredible strength on screen, stealing the scene."
