"Enfant Terrible: Rise and Fall of a Genius" is a dramatic biopic that tells the incredible story of one of the most important filmmakers of New German Cinema, Rainer Werner Fassbinder. He died of an overdose at only 37 years old, leaving an impressive body of work in a short amount of time, especially for his young age. His career consists of 40 feature films, as well as short films, plays, and TV series. Starring Oliver Masucci (known for his role in the series 'Dark'), it attempts to capture the essence of Fassbinder, an artist who was temperamental and genius yet unable to protect himself. This is the story of a child of his time... of an extremely talented and dynamic filmmaker named Rainer Werner Fassbinder, who dreams of making movies about the cold-hearted, archaic Federal German society and about the longing for respect and love of the outsiders – foreigners, underprivileged groups, small convicts. His fulminant rise to being one of the most important directors in Europe correlates with his mental and physical fall and his early death.
