Clayface Unlikely To Turn A Theatrical Profit As Analyst Delivers Harsh Verdict On Dcu Movie

After slipping to #2 at the North American box office this past weekend, Clayface made $1.2 million in U.S. theaters on Monday. It's a respectable result, albeit one that's kept the R-rated Dcu body horror in second place behind You Can See Everything's $1.4 million haul. This week will establish whether Clayface has legs—Halloween weekend is an anomaly, with even the biggest hits suffering a drop in ticket sales—but one box office analyst remains unconvinced. Exhibitor Relations' Jeff Bock, one of the most respected box office pundits in the game, has shared his no-holds-barred take on Clayface's box office performance. While some have been quick to declare the DC Studios title a hit,

‘Clayface’ Is Showing Staying Power at the Box Office as DC’s Horror Bet Pays Off

DC Studios took a big swing with ‘Clayface’. The R-rated body horror film was made for a reported $44 million, a fraction of what the DC Universe spent on ‘Superman’, which reportedly cost $225 million, and ‘Supergirl’, which cost between $170 million and $186 million. Directed by James Watkins from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, the film opened on October 23. Its $24 million domestic debut was the lowest opening of any DC Universe film, which led some fans to doubt its chances. ‘Clayface’ may now be proving those early doubts wrong. According to box office analyst Luiz Fernando, the film earned about $1.2 million on its second Monday in the United States, down just 46.4% from its first Monday.

Clayface's Official Instagram Account Mocked For Cringe-Worthy Attempted Shot At You Can See Everything

On Sunday, Warner Bros. Discovery sent out a press release declaring that Clayface had topped the North American box office for a second weekend in a row. That flew in the face of what every box office analyst was saying, but it was a tight race for the #1 spot. Ultimately, Clayface made $11 million compared to You Can See Everything's $11.4 million. The DC Studios movie may be a lower-budgeted body horror, but a DC Comics adaptation being beaten by a documentary this soon into its run isn't a great look. DC Studios' response? The official Clayface Instagram account has shared a post suggesting the Dcu movie is more appealing because it's

‘Clayface’ Shows Strong Legs Overseas as DC’s Body Horror Heads Toward a Global Milestone

DC Studios has had a bruising year at the box office, and the pressure on every new release has been impossible to miss. ‘Supergirl’ grossed just $126.4 million worldwide against a reported budget of $170 million or more, while ‘Superman’ reportedly cost $225 million to make. Against that backdrop, a smaller and stranger DC project was always going to be judged on a different curve. That project is ‘Clayface‘, an R-rated body horror directed by James Watkins from a script by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. Tom Rhys Harries stars as Hollywood actor Matt Hagen, with Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella, David Dencik and Eddie Marsan also in the cast. The film rolled out

Metal Gear Solid Creator Hideo Kojima Reviews Clayface As Dcu Movie Reaches $44M Domestic

Clayface opened in theaters last weekend, and if audience scores are any indication, DC Studios delivered a winner. Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima is widely considered a visionary and often shares his movie and TV show reviews on social media. They're typically either very detailed or simply an acknowledgement that he's seen something. The latter often indicates that he didn't like a new release and implies that he'd rather say he's watched something than tear into a fellow creative's vision. Well, Kojima just got out of Clayface, and he had plenty to say about the Dcu's first body horror. "Watched 'Clayface.' I wasn’t
