"Deux" is a one of those seductive films where an intelligent script is wrapped in delicacy and elegance with admirable performances. The rare chemistry between the protagonists, played by Martine Chevallier and Barbara Sukowa, is incredible. The two manage to explore the intimacy of a sentimental relationship in a very well-constructed way in each scene. A movie about love, appearances, emotions, feelings and two women making fundamental choices. And certainly, about truth.

Plot summary
Nina and Madeleine, two retired women, are secretly deeply in love for decades. From everybody's point of view, including Madeleine's family, they are simply neighbors living on the top floor of their building. They come and go between their two apartments, sharing the tender delights of everyday life together. Until the day their relationship is turned upside down by an unexpected event leading Madeleine's daughter to slowly unveil the truth about them.

In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
