Eami

Asojá, a bird-god-woman, prepares to leave her beloved forest as settlers invade her homeland.

Why watch this film?

Award-winning Paraguayan documentary that explores the pain of the Ayoreo people living in one of the fastest deforested areas on the planet. Eami (which in Ayoreo means both 'forest' and 'world') is, at the same time, a nature documentary, an ethnographic work and an audiovisual poem (comparable in this sense to Sanctorum from Mexico) that plays with rhythms and sensibilities in a contemplative narrative that immerses itself in the experience of a people living through the destruction of their world.
