"Night in Paradise" is a South Korean feature film written and directed by Park Hoon-Jun ("New World"). Noir film lovers will enjoy this rescue that Hoon-Jun made of the genre and its update to a context of South Korean gangsters. In the plot, a gangster is forced into exile on an island after suffering an injustice within his gang and there he ends up getting involved with a woman. Despite the slow pace, the production is interesting, captivating and has good references from other East Asian filmmakers, such as Wong Kar-wai.

And the major problem with this movie is that it tries to be everything: romantic comedy, action comedy, Hollywood satire, crime mystery, and more, hampered by the magnitude of its own ambitions, as well as an overloaded and unclear script. You can enjoy it as an insight into the world behind action cinema, and for the charisma of Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
