Gridiron Gang

A counselor leads juvenile delinquents to play football, boosting their self-esteem.

Why watch this film?

There are three types of prison films. First, those that show spectacular escapes, like 'Escape from Alcatraz' or 'The Shawshank Redemption'. There are those that show the horrors of this environment, like 'Carandiru'. And those that try to find motivational themes and stories, like 'Gridiron Gang'. Here, we follow the motivational and above all emotional story of a juvenile detention center that finds escape from the world of crime in sports and American football. Directed by Phil Joanou ('Mercy Shot'), the feature film bets on a somewhat generic message, but it should be exciting for the nature of the sport and, above all, emotional for the characters so real and natural. To cry.
