Disney Plus Movies

Platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have changed the way we consume online movies at home by streaming. So it didn't take long for major media groups to become interested in creating their own subscription video on demand platforms.

Such is the case with Disney+ (read Disney Plus), a VOD service created by The Walt Disney Company.

Launching in November 2019 in the United States and some other international territories, Disney+ started out as a subscription video on demand (SVOD) platform, meaning it provides access to its entire catalog in exchange for a monthly fee.

However, after the delayed release of the remake of 'Mulan' in theaters, Disney released the film for an additional fee on the platform in the US in markets where it was already available.

The service then switched to a mixed scheme between monthly subscription and individual transaction, which is becoming a trend in the market.

How much does Disney+ cost per month?

The monthly fee costs $8 a month or $80 per year in the US.

The only payment methods available on streaming are credit card, debit card or PayPal account.

How to subscribe to Disney+?

To subscribe to Disney+ and get access to all the company's classic movies, plus many other opportunities for fun and interesting content, the first step is to access the platform

Next you will enter your e-mail, read and agree to the contract terms and create your password.

Remember to keep your password in a safe place and make sure it is easy for you to remember. But don't worry: if you forget it, you can easily recover it.

After that you will enter your payment details. At this point, the platform offers you the option to use it for 7 days and to cancel it before that time, if the experience is not positive. No charges will be made during this period.

How to watch the Disney+ movies?

Only a company like Disney has the muscle to produce one of the platforms with the most comprehensive releases.

While some of its smaller rivals must strive to be on as many devices as possible, Mickey Mouse’ streaming is available on virtually all of them, offering users more flexibility.

Like Netflix, you can watch Disney + on:

- Computers (via web browsers);

- On the main Smart TV models;

- Smartphones with iOS and Android;

- Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV players;

- On major video game consoles.

In addition, the streaming platform also offers content in 4K and Dolby Atmos sound on compatible devices.

There is also the possibility to make unlimited downloads to watch without internet, for up to seven user profiles per account.

What to watch on Disney+?

After acquiring Pixar in 2006, Marvel Entertainment in 2009, Lucasfilm in 2012 and 21st Century Fox in 2019, The Walt Disney Company has effectively become an entertainment titan, with hundreds of the world's most popular - and profitable - intellectual properties under its umbrella.

Therefore, Disney + brings in its catalog, and exclusively, the highest-grossing films in history.

They can be found from those with the Disney name such as 'Frozen 2', to Marvel's box-office phenomenon 'Avengers: Infinity War', Lucasfilm's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', Pixar's 'Incredibles 2', and 'Avatar', the former highest-grossing film in history produced by 20th Century Fox (now renamed 20th Century Studios).

As if that were not enough, completely original productions from the platform are also present, such as 'Hamilton' and 'Noelle'.

Much can be argued for or against these films, but it is undeniable that the Disney+ catalog is unmatched in popularity.

Is Disney+ worth it after all?

The Disney+ catalog can certainly appeal to all age groups. From nostalgic people who will rediscover many animations from their childhood, to little ones who are falling in love with Pixar.

The ease of creating the register and enjoy the experience will leave many people wanting to continue watching and remembering times, and to know other types of content from companies that are part of the empire of The Walt Disney Company.
