Why watch this film?

There are countless perspectives to be explored in cinema about the First and Second World Wars. Sometimes, filmmakers use narrative and filmmaking techniques to stand out, as was the case with the award-winning '1917'. In other cases, grand stories such as 'Saving Private Ryan'. Finally, there are those films that focus on little-known glorious stories to the general public. This is the case of 'Zaspanka za vojnike', a production that seeks to tell the glory of a group of Serbian soldiers during the First World War. It is a film without great stylistic or narrative attractions, relying on commonplaces to sustain itself. However, director Predrag Antonijevic (from the good 'Suspect Police') hits the emotion and tone approached to talk about the soldiers in total desolation, reminiscent of productions like 'Elite Squad' and 'The Last Battalion'. It is one of those forgettable films, but it should move people's emotions while watching it - including those who don't like war movies so much.
