Why watch this film?
From the renowned Finnish director Klaus Häro ("Letters to Father Jacob", "Goodbye Mom"), "The Anonymous Artist" is a subtle and intimate drama with a protagonist at the end of his life, trapped between melancholy, frustration and regret that often accompany old age (in the purest style of Ingmar Bergman movies like "Wild Strawberries"). Although somewhat predictable, the script manages to avoid excessive sentimentality thanks to an elegant sense of humor and good performances from its cast, to tell a simple and elegant fable about selfishness and redemption through art.
