Why watch this film?
One of the coolest and most sincere films of 2020, 'Yes, God, Yes' already provokes with its title. After all, the 78-minute feature hits the mark when it tells the story of a girl who is discovering her sexuality. However, the place for this apparently could not be worse: a religious retreat for teenagers. Little by little, however, debut director and screenwriter Karen Maine adds small tasty lines to the plot, showing how sexuality ends up affecting everyone, at different levels and intensities. Highlight for the protagonist Natalia Dyer ('Stranger Things'), who faces this so typical role of American independent cinema with naturalness.
