"Between Us, A Secret" follows Toumani Kouyaté, the artist who commands the film alongside director Beatriz Seigner, as he returns to his native country of Mali to say goodbye to his grandfather. This symbolic production shows the importance of ancestry and honoring our roots, no matter where they come from. The dual direction was a great move as the focus of the story ends up being on Kouyaté, so he becomes both the subject and one of the minds behind the camera, making Seigner's work attractive as it shows a point of view that can distance itself from the narrative, since it has nothing to do with her life. A delicate, beautiful documentary full of cultural depth.

A moving portrait of the lives of these two Tarahumara women, questioning the multiple forms of racism and discrimination that indigenous women in Mexico and the United States face.
