Why watch this film?
It is almost unbelievable when we analyze the cast of 'The War with Grandpa', a comedy that pokes fun at the best of them and directed by Tim Hill (of 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' and 'Garfield 2'). Here, Robert De Niro, Uma Thurman and Christopher Walken participate in a plot about a grandfather (De Niro) who moves in with his son's house and, consequently, takes over the room of one of his grandchildren (Oakes Fegley). The boy, outraged, begins to play pranks on his grandfather. And, from there, we follow a series of absurd situations, typical of these family comedies. It is not a good movie, nor is it one of De Niro's good comedies, such as 'Getting Even' or 'Catching Up'. But, even so, you can have fun and pass the time unpretentiously, especially when watching Walken and De Niro having fun in almost embarrassing situations. The secret here is to turn off your critical sense and laugh.
