Why watch this film?
Despite having names like Tim Roth, Uma Thurman and Stephen Fry, the feature film 'The Con Is On' is just another heist movie, without any big surprises, just to pass the time. After all, from a contained direction by James Oakley ('The Devil You Know'), we follow the story of a couple who, fleeing from a mobster collecting debts, decide to flee to Los Angeles to rob a jewelry store. Roth, Thurman and Fry are on autopilot, without any surprises in their performance. In addition, for specialized critics, it was one of the worst films of 2018 in the United States, due to the uninspiring plot and, at some moments, even senseless. In the end, it serves as escapist entertainment, to let it roll on the TV screen while popping the popcorn.
