Why watch this film?
"Irmã", a Gaucho film selected for the Generation 14plus section of the 70th Berlin Film Festival, is a strange production. One of those that cause discomfort. Nevertheless, the story is apparently banal: it follows sisters Ana (Maria Galant) and Julia (Anaís Grala Wegner) on a long journey through the interior of Rio Grande do Sul in search of their father. In this plot, directors Vinícius Lopes and Luciana Mazeto insert courageous elements of fantasy to talk about feminism and maturity between these two sisters dealing with loneliness and life coming with force into their hard personal realities.
