Why watch this film?

My Salinger Year, directed by Canadian Philippe Falardeau (director of 'Good News Travels Fast', nominated for Best International Film at the 2011 Oscars) is a refreshing period independent drama, based on Joanna Rakoff's homonymous book. The story is Joanna's autobiographical account of a period in her life when she worked at a literary agency representing the famous writer J.D. Salinger. A light and curious film that provides a dive into the literary world and its peculiarities, as well as a curious perspective on the famous author. The period characterization is carefully built and the colors evoke a nostalgic feeling, ensuring a very vivid atmosphere to the viewer. In addition, the feature has great performances from Margaret Qualley (from 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood') and Sigourney Weaver (from the 'Alien' franchise). A light, pleasant and original drama.
