Why watch this film?
Few productions are as iconic to pop culture as the 'Batman' series, produced between 1966 and 1968. After all, only that decade could give us such a zany mix! The comics of the Caped Crusader, the saturation explosion of the newly arrived color TV, Andy Warhol's camp and pop art culture, rock'n'roll (still in its "ye-ye-ye" phase) and the last breaths of innocence in the world helped create a myth that crossed decades. The feature film 'Batman: The Movie' was produced in the wake of the success on television, with producer William Dozier realizing he could also bring crowds to the cinemas. The result is exactly what we see in the series: a lot of exaggeration, an almost childish script and situations that, even for the time, were already pretty silly. But the movie embraces all this with praise, affirming right away that it is also there for lovers of the absurd. That's why we have a movie that will get very small children excited, while adults will laugh at the nonsense humor. There is even a subtext about the need for global unity - something important in the Cold War, but also very relevant for current generations. If you think the Dark Knight is just that gray encanação from Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder's films, hit play with an open heart and prepare to find out that yes, Batman can be chubby and the Joker can have a mustache under the makeup. Curiosidade: 'Batman' and 'Batman, The Movie' were produced before DC Comics became part of the same group as (today's) WarnerMedia - so the two productions were from 20th Century Fox and, on streaming, are currently in the hands of Disney, owner of the Star+ platform.
Batman and Robin must launch a rescue mission when they get a tip that Commodore Schmidlapp is in danger aboard his yacht. But the tip is a set-up by four of the most powerful villains ever, who seek to defeat the dynamic duo once and for all! Armed with a dehydrator that can turn humans into dust, the fearsome foursome intends to take over the world! Can the Caped Crusaders use their high-flying heroism and groovy gadgetry to declaw Catwoman, ice the PenguiN, upstage the Joker, and stump the Riddler in time?
