Synopsis
In the Sanctuary of Atotonilco de León, Guanajuato, more than 3,000 women go on a yearly spiritual retreat. This documentary follows in the footsteps of Marina, who tries to convey the values of the Catholic religion to her granddaughter Perla, a young girl torn between following in the wake of her family and following her own path. The film's camerawork of Retiro moves swiftly and stealthily to capture, from an anthropological, historical, political and deeply feminist perspective, a story as captivating as it is dazzling
