If the assertion is that Clifton Collins Jr. is one of the most underrated actors of his generation, 'Jockey' is the proof. In this movie, he plays Jackson Silva, a jockey whose health is declining, but who aspires to win one last championship, which could be his last. However, things get complicated when a rookie rider appears claiming to be his son. Released at the 2021 Sundance Festival, this is a traditional drama about a man longing for past glories, clinging to them with whatever is left, which rests on the shoulders of his leading performance. But what a performance and what a story.

The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
