Why watch this film?

Can we find answers for the future by looking to the past? It's hard to say, but the truth is that 'The Janes: Women Anonymous' is a crucial HBO documentary that, considering the historical moment the United States is going through with the annulment of the Roe v. Wade decision, at least shows us that history tends to repeat itself (or that we're not learning much from it). The documentary deals with the fascinating story of a group of women who self-named themselves "Jane" to offer safe abortions clandestinely to other women. Although formulaic, it is a documentary that is well worth watching just for the story it tells, about a discussion we are still having today in many countries around the world - including Brazil.
