Why watch this film?
Netflix's simple and sensitive movie, which can make the audience cry with a story that values the emotional side, 'Dog Gone' follows the journey of a father (Rob Lowe) and son (Johnny Berchtold) who go out in search of the family dog, Gonker, who has disappeared. Although quite obvious in its execution, the feature film takes us into the story and the relationship of these two characters and, of course, makes us root for Gonker to come out unscathed and well from this movie without major plots and that touches the heart.

101 Dalmatians
It's a remake of Disney's classic animated movie, '101 Dalmatians' (also known as 'One Hundred and One Dalmatians') from 1961, which was based on Dodie Smith's novel 'The 101 Dalmatians'. In this contemporary version there are no dialogues for the dogs, and no jazz-filled soundtrack either, so it loses a bit of the charm of the original. However, Glenn Close's (‘Fatal Attraction’) manic performance as Cruella de Vil is more than worth it to give this version a chance, deservedly nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical category.

Afterlife of the Party
Despite seeming like just another algorithm-generated movie dedicated to the TikTok generation, 'Afterlife of the Party' manages to be surprisingly interesting. It does indeed make critiques of people who prefer to live their life on the internet rather than in reality, but it manages to break away from this common place and go further. With an idea different from the usual, we follow the charismatic Victoria Justice trying to reach heaven after a sudden death, with plenty of good humor and the right dose of sensitivity.

The Peasants
The Peasants is an animated film by the same directors of Loving Vincent, using the same innovative technique, which could be described as "oil-painted rotoscopy". Based on the Nobel Prize-winning novel The Peasants (1904) by Władysław Reymont, it's a tale of desire and revenge told in four episodes, one for each season of the year. The story, set in Poland at the turn of the 20th century, follows a young peasant woman who wreaks havoc by marrying an older, wealthy man, whose son also desires her, despite being married. It is a powerful and bleak, although conventional tale about violence and misogyny, somewhat overshadowed by its beautiful and prodigious visual execution.
